A Weekend in Ayia Napa

Picture
I haven't been in Ayia Napa since I was 17 (or maybe a bit younger). You have to understand I don't really like partying and staying out very late because I'm mentally an 80 year old man. And if you know or heard anything about Ayia Napa you would know its a party spot for (mostly) tourists during the summer months.

So, yeah, Ayia Napa + I = Not Much Love.

When Ginger wanted us to check out the new Napa Suites, I was tempted and in the end, obviously, I gave in. It has an infinity pool for crying out loud, who would say no to an infinity pool? .

The hotel is gorgeous, nice details in the interior design, mostly white, and the pool area is fantastic with white lounges and sunbeds, palm trees, tall tables and stools and a big bar. We had cocktails on the lounges, under the hot September sun, ate a niiice Ceasar salad and a nice souvlaki with delicious french fries and, my oh my, you have to have the fruit platter. I love fruits so it was heavenly.

The room was cozy, minimal and almost completely white until you turned on hidden lights that changed colors and it was a whole different mood. I also must, MUST talk about the bathroom. That shower is made in heaven; its a small marble room that also has color lights and... oh wow, I want it more often in my life.

And I don't feel I need to say more about the infinity pool. It's a great feeling to swim on the edge and just sit to observe the city and the sea. If you haven't been in an infinity pool and you just happen to be in Cyprus, give this one a try.
And of course we were in Ayia Napa, we couldn't not go out at night (well we could, but it wasn't up to me).

We started with dinner at Hard Rock Cafe and got full with that burger that I love. Ayia Napa's HRC is just what you'd expect; great deco, great food, good service - even though there was some confusion with our table and went up and down the stairs a few times. The rest of our dinner ran smoothly and, hey, balcony with the neon light - sign in view, that was what sold it to me.

Walking around the Ayia Napa Square you see lights, people having enjoying themselves, you hear music, you pass by PornFood (yes there's an actual food store with that name, and I will not disclose the shape of the food it sells. It's fun though, and you go to The Castle Club. It's a multi-leveled club with different music genre playing in every floor and it's full of neon lights and now you know how much i love it. Lots of people though, tourists do not mind September.

I also bought a cap with a pink neon light tube (see gallery below), and there's nothing more to say about this, I just wanted to share.
All in all, Napa was just what you'd expect: fun.

It came out of the blue, we booked a room just because we wanted to check out the infinity pool and we had fun in a city that I hadn't visited in ages. I felt 17 again, when I used to go on vacation with my friends.

So yeah, Ayia Napa is good clean fun (or not so clean if that's what you want).

''Fuego'' was everywhere; radios, clubs, music channels, so yeah. Fuego.
